Saam helps families and households by turning loose messages into complete tasks and sharing them fairly. We handle your data carefully and collect only what's needed. This statement explains what we do.
Who we're
Saam is a service based in the Netherlands and is responsible for processing your data. You can reach us via our support page.
What data we process
- Email address: to log in (a code by email) and for the waitlist.
- The content you send in: your task text (title, details, and names you mention). Needed to create a task.
- Name: the name you go by in your household.
- Phone number: only if you connect it, so tasks reach you via WhatsApp.
- Calendar access: only if you connect Google Calendar; we then store an encrypted access token to add dated tasks to your calendar.
- Anonymous usage stats: a random, non-identifying id plus events (e.g. app opened, logged in, which screen). Never linked to your name or email.
What we deliberately do NOT do
- About your child, Saam only knows what you say or type yourself. Nothing is inferred: only a preference, a size or an allergy you literally mention, or what you enter in the child profile in the app. You see exactly what's stored, the app shows every addition and asks twice a year whether it's still right, and deleting takes one tap. Remove the child or your account and the profile goes with it.
- Your voice never leaves your device: speech is turned into text on your phone itself.
- No trackers or ad cookies. We don't sell your data.
Who we share data with (processors)
Being honest: to make Saam work, some data passes through a few trusted services, so we don't claim "zero third parties".
- Hosting/database (EU): your data is stored in a database within the EU.
- AI (making tasks): your message text goes to our AI provider to turn it into a task.
- WhatsApp (Meta): if you deliver a task via WhatsApp, the task text passes through Meta, which is inherent to the channel.
- Google Calendar: only if you connect it, for dated tasks.
- Email: for sending login codes and invitations.
Why we're allowed to (legal basis)
For the core (turning messages into tasks) the basis is performing the agreement you enter when you log in. For anonymous stats it's legitimate interest: minimal and non-identifying.
How long we keep it
The original text of a message is automatically deleted after 30 days. If you delete your account, we erase your data; if you're the only one in a household, the whole household is removed.
Your rights
You can view, export and fully erase your data, right in the app and on your dashboard. You can always delete it yourself.

We update this statement as Saam changes. The date at the top shows when.
