Saam helps families and households by turning loose messages into complete tasks and sharing them fairly. We handle your data carefully and collect only what's needed. This statement explains what we do.
Who we are
Saam is a service based in the Netherlands and is responsible for processing your data. You can reach us via our support page.
What data we process
- Email address: to log in (a code by email).
- The content you send in: your task text (title, details, and names you mention). Needed to create a task.
- Name: the name you go by in your household.
- Contact details on a task: only what you mention or fill in yourself, such as the name, number and address of a dentist or school. Saam looks nothing up. We keep it with your household so it can appear on the next task about the same thing. You can always remove it on the task.
- Phone number: only if you connect it, so tasks reach you via WhatsApp.
- Calendar access: only if you connect Google Calendar; we then store an encrypted access token to add dated tasks to your calendar.
- Anonymous usage stats: a random, non-identifying id plus events (e.g. app opened, logged in, which screen, which button or step). Only the name of the button, never what you type or say. Never linked to your name, email or phone number.
What we deliberately do NOT do
- About your child, Saam only knows what you say or type yourself. Nothing is inferred: only a preference, a size or an allergy you literally mention, or what you enter in the child profile in the app. You see exactly what's stored, the app shows every addition and asks twice a year whether it's still right, and deleting takes one tap. Remove the child or your account and the profile goes with it.
- Your voice never leaves your device: speech is turned into text on your phone itself.
- No trackers or ad cookies. We don't sell your data.
Who we share data with (processors)
Being honest: to make Saam work, some data passes through a few trusted services, so we don't claim "zero third parties".
- Hosting/database (EU): your data is stored in a database within the EU.
- AI (making tasks): your message text goes to our AI provider to turn it into a task.
- WhatsApp (Meta): if you deliver a task via WhatsApp, the task text passes through Meta, which is inherent to the channel.
- Google Calendar: only if you connect it, for dated tasks.
- Email: for sending login codes and invitations.
Why we're allowed to (legal basis)
For the core (turning messages into tasks) the basis is performing the agreement you enter when you log in. For anonymous stats it's legitimate interest: minimal and non-identifying.
How we protect your data
- Calendar key encrypted: the access key we receive from Google is stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM). Our database never holds a readable key.
- As little access as possible: from Google we only ask permission to create, change and delete events (
calendar.events). We only create, change and delete the events Saam itself made. We do not read other events from your calendar.
- Unlinking: if you unlink in the app, we revoke the access at Google and delete the key.
- Database locked down: the database gives no public access. Only the Saam server, with its own credentials, can read or write data. Row-level security is on for every table, and no rules give outsiders access.
Use of Google data
Our use of data received from Google APIs adheres to the Google Workspace API User Data and Developer Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- We use access to your Google Calendar only to create, change and delete events for your tasks.
- We do not read other events from your calendar.
- We do not send Google Calendar data to AI models, and we do not use it to train or improve AI or machine-learning models.
- We do not sell this data, share it with third parties, or use it for advertising.
What you type or say in Saam is sent to our AI provider to turn it into a task (see above). That is not data from Google.
How long we keep it
The original text of a message is automatically deleted after 30 days. If you delete your account, we erase your data; if you're the only parent in a household, the whole household is removed.
Your rights
You can view, export and fully erase your data, right in the app and on your dashboard. You can always delete it yourself.

We update this statement as Saam changes. The date at the top shows when.
