Klender is a good Dutch family calendar. Still, people sometimes look for something else, usually for one of four reasons. For each reason, the alternative that fits.
Short answer: if you want a similar app with more features, look at FamilyWall. If you don't want to pay anything, use a shared Google or Apple calendar. If you want to motivate the kids with points, look at Heima. If Klender is on everyone's phone but one person enters everything, a different calendar won't help; look at Saam.
First, a disclosure: Saam is our own app. Everything about the other apps comes from their own App Store page or the source listed, viewed on 8 October 2026. Prices and features change.

The closest to Klender, but bigger. The shared calendar, tasks, shopping lists, recipes, messages, a photo gallery and contacts are free. Premium (€4.99 a month or €39.99 a year) adds a budget, meal planner, documents, location sharing and syncing with Google Calendar and Outlook, among other things. Available in Dutch. Suits: anyone who wants more in one app. Source: App Store
Calendar, lists and a recipe box, English only. The free version has ads and shows the calendar up to 30 days ahead; Cozi Gold (from €34.99 a year) lifts that. Suits: anyone who is fine with English and mainly wants to plan meals. Source: App Store
Free, and you probably have it already. With Google, a family group automatically gets a "Family" calendar; with Apple you share a calendar through iCloud. No lists or birthday calendar like Klender, but available everywhere. Suits: anyone who mainly used Klender for the calendar. Source: Google, iCulture
An app for chores and routines where kids earn points for finished tasks, with an AI assistant since April 2026 that lets you say or type something (source: Emerce). Free, with Premium. Suits: families who want to motivate their kids with points and routines. Source: App Store
If the shopping list was the only thing you really used in Klender. Bring! makes a list per supermarket (Premium €1.99 a month), Listonic groups by store section (from €0.99 a month). Suits: anyone who wants one thing done well. Source: App Store (Bring!), App Store (Listonic)
Our own app, and a different kind of alternative: a family calendar that fills itself. You say or type what's going on, Saam turns it into complete tasks, divides them across whoever has the least on their plate that day, and delivers them in WhatsApp and your own calendar (Google directly, Apple and Outlook through a link). A photo of a school letter or a forwarded email becomes appointments. The app has the family calendar with the week and the month, and on a tablet a large monthly schedule for the kitchen. Free for now. Suits: families where Klender is on everyone's phone but one person enters everything. Suits less: anyone who wants a shared address book or points for kids; Saam doesn't do that. You don't have to choose. Saam puts tasks and appointments into Google Calendar, and according to its App Store page Klender can show appointments from Google Calendar. What you tell Saam can appear in Klender that way too.
What is a good alternative to Klender?
It depends on why you're looking. If you want more features in one app, FamilyWall is the closest. If you don't want to pay, a shared Google or Apple calendar is enough. If you want to motivate kids with points, Heima fits. If you want the thinking and dividing taken over rather than just tracked, Saam fits.
