Which app suits you depends on the problem you want to solve. This overview puts nine options side by side, with sources.
First, a disclosure: Saam is our own app, so it is in the list. Everything about the other apps comes from their own App Store page or from the source given, viewed on 5 October 2026. Prices and features change, and a rating doesn't tell you how many downloads an app has.

An all-in-one family app with shared calendars, assigning tasks, shopping lists, recipes and messages. According to the App Store page, budget, meal planner, documents and location belong to Premium (€4.99 a month or €39.99 a year). The app supports Dutch. Suits: anyone who wants one app for everything. Source: App Store
A family organizer with a shared calendar, reminders, a shopping list and a recipe box. Free, with a paid subscription (Cozi Gold, from €34.99 a year). The Dutch App Store page says the app is only available in English. Suits: anyone who doesn't mind an English-language app. Source: App Store
A family app for chores, daily routines and responsibilities, where you see who does what and what is already done. Children and teenagers earn points for finished tasks. Since April 2026 Heima has an AI assistant that lets you speak or type something, such as "put the laundry on tonight" (source: Emerce). Free, with a Premium subscription. Suits: families who want to motivate children with points and routines. Source: App Store
A cleaning schedule app: you build a schedule to divide chores with your household, and the app creates a daily schedule per housemate, with a leaderboard. Free, with a subscription of €2.99 a month or €17.99 a year. Suits: anyone who wants to divide the cleaning. The focus is on cleaning. Source: App Store
A shopping list you share, where changes show up instantly. You can group products by store department. The app itself claims more than 20 million users. Free, with subscriptions from €0.99 a month. Suits: anyone who wants a list that follows the supermarket layout. Source: App Store
A shopping list app in which you make a list per supermarket, share lists and find recipes. Free, with Premium for €1.99 a month or €9.99 a year. Suits: anyone who wants groceries organised per shop. Source: App Store
You often already have a shared calendar. With Google, a calendar called "Family" is created automatically as soon as you create a family group on Google; members of the group can use it (source: Google). With Apple you share a calendar through iCloud with the people you add yourself (source: iCulture). Suits: anyone who just wants to see what is when, without another app.
Our own app. You say or type what's going on, and Saam turns it into complete tasks, divides them across whoever has the least on their plate and delivers them in WhatsApp and your calendar (Google directly, Apple and Outlook through a link). Loose groceries become one checklist, and a photo of a school letter becomes appointments. There are no points or scores. Free. Suits: anyone who wants to be rid of the thinking and the passing along. Suits less: anyone who wants points and rewards, or mainly a calendar of their own to look at. Saam is new since September 2026 and has only one rating in the App Store so far. Source: App Store
Each app is described from its own App Store page, viewed on 5 October 2026, with the source attached. Ratings are the number in the Dutch App Store and say nothing about downloads. Is something wrong, or is an app missing? Email us at hello@tellsaam.com and we'll change it.
Which app is best for sharing household tasks?
It depends on the problem. If you want to see who does what, look at a shared calendar with lists, such as Klender, FamilyWall or Cozi. If you want a rota with points, Heima or Sweepy. If you want someone to take over the thinking and the passing along, Saam fits.
Which of these apps are free?
All the apps in this overview are free to download. Most have paid features or subscriptions behind them; the prices are above. Saam is free.
Which of these apps work in Dutch?
Klender is a Dutch app. According to their App Store pages, FamilyWall, Sweepy, Listonic and Bring! support Dutch. Cozi is only available in English. Saam is in Dutch, and there is an English version too.
Is this overview neutral?
Saam is our own app, so it is in the list. We describe each app from its own App Store page on 5 October 2026 and say where Saam suits less. If something is wrong, email hello@tellsaam.com.
