School letters and emails straight into your calendar

The newsletter with inset days, the letter about school photos, the email from the sports club. This is how what's in them gets into your calendar without retyping.

Short answer: with Saam you take a photo of a school letter, choose a PDF, or forward the school email to add@tellsaam.com. Saam pulls out the dates and actions, shows you what it found first, and then puts it in the calendar with the source attached. Anything someone needs to do, like packing the PE kit, becomes a task for one of you. Saam works in English and Dutch and is free for now.

First, a disclosure: Saam is our own app. Further down are other apps that do something similar, with sources, viewed on 8 October 2026.

How it works

1

Photo, PDF or forward

Take a photo of the letter in the app, choose a screenshot or PDF, or forward the email to add@tellsaam.com from the address you use in Saam.

2

Saam shows what it found

The dates, times and actions in the letter, such as an inset day, school photos or "dress-up day on Friday". You check it before anything goes into the calendar.

3

Into the calendar, and shared out

Appointments go into the family calendar in the app and into Google Calendar (Apple and Outlook through a link), with the source attached. Anything someone has to arrange becomes a task for whoever has time that day.

Gether is a web app from Australia: you forward emails, WhatsApp messages and photos, and it puts appointments in a family dashboard and Google Calendar (source: gether.life). KindRly pulls school events out of newsletters into Google or Apple Calendar; the free version has three scans a month (source: App Store). FamilyWall says on its App Store page that it can pull appointments out of email using AI (source: App Store).

Where Saam differs: it works with a photo, a PDF and an email, it is also in Dutch, and it doesn't just create appointments but also shares out what needs arranging. Where Saam fits less: Saam doesn't read messages directly from school apps such as Parro or Social Schools.

Privacy

A school letter is about your children, so this matters. Saam processes data within the EU, sends no phone numbers or email addresses to the AI model, and deletes the original messages after 30 days. About children, Saam itself keeps only what makes a task complete, such as a name and a school year. More in the privacy statement.

Frequently asked questions

Which app puts school letters into the calendar automatically?
Saam does: take a photo of the letter, choose a PDF, or forward the school email to add@tellsaam.com. Saam pulls out the dates, shows them first and puts them in the calendar with the source attached. Other apps that do something similar are Gether and KindRly.

Does it work with school apps?
Saam doesn't connect directly to school apps such as Parro or Social Schools. You can add a message as a screenshot, or forward the email you get from school.

What does it cost?
Saam is free for now. Gether starts at $4.90 a month, KindRly has a free version with three scans a month.

Does Saam put everything straight into the calendar?
No. Saam first shows you what it found in the letter. Only then does it go into the calendar, with the letter noted as the source.
