A family planner only works if everyone opens it. So Saam puts the tasks in the calendar and the WhatsApp you already use.
A family calendar app sounds like the answer: one place for every appointment. In practice it is often one person entering everything while the other never opens the calendar. Then you have a lovely family planner and still someone who carries it all in her head. We wrote about this before: why a shared calendar doesn't fix the mental load.
Saam is a family assistant. It doesn't build a separate calendar that you or your partner have to keep up or open. You say what's going on, Saam turns it into a task with a date and time, and it lands in the calendar and the WhatsApp you already use.
An appointment isn't the same as a task: someone has to go, pack the bag or arrange the sitter. Saam divides that work fairly, based on who is least busy right now. The task arrives in the WhatsApp of whoever does it, with the date attached. You can read more about how that works at an app to share household tasks.
No scores, no streaks, no guilt, and no calendar where you have to keep everything up yourself. If you mainly want a shared overview of appointments without anyone dividing the work, an ordinary shared calendar is enough. Saam is for the parent who has also taken on the remembering and the passing along.
Does Saam work with Google Calendar?
Yes. Tasks with a date and time go into Google Calendar automatically once you've connected it. Apple Calendar and Outlook work through a subscription link.
Is Saam a family calendar?
Not in the sense of a calendar of its own that you have to keep up. Saam puts tasks and appointments in the calendar you already use and divides the work that comes with them.
Can Saam put school letters in the calendar?
Yes. You take a photo of a letter or forward a PDF or email. Saam pulls out the dates and actions, shows you what it found first, and then puts everything in the calendar, with the source attached.
Do I have to enter every appointment myself?
No. You say or type it the way it comes to you, or take a photo of a letter. Saam fills in the date, time and details.
